What number at Winter Avenue?  If you have a number you may be able to find him on the 1911 census.

I have posted previously re William,  we know very little to be able to continue further on the tree he walked out the Marital home in 1933,  apparently no one knew or knows where he went,  we was hoping his army record may give us a birth date,  where he was born/living ehen he joined up.

Thank you for your welcome and quick response.  unfortunately we do not know where William was born,  yes we have a copy of the marriage certificate,  they married in St Bartholomews Church in East Ham, London, where William was noted as a Bombadier in the RHA, in the Army, but we do not have any army records my hubby's  very elderly Aunt in Belgium says he was in the Royal Kings Rifles she cannot provide any mor em than that, that was in 1916 ,  Williams father George was on the Marriage Cert as a Labourer.

Okay, have you obtained his marriage certificate?  If not I would suggest that you do so, it will give his father's name.

Marriages Mar 1916

Smith    William    Wilding    W. Ham    4a   444

I'm just wondering how correct the page number is.  There is no female first name on this record from free bmd.

Marriages Mar 1916
Wilding    Doris    Smith    W.Ham    4a   44

It's page no. 44.  I checked the original entry for William and it says 44.  Someone has added an extra 4!

Once you have William's father's name you can then look for the family on the census records.

Right so you have his marriage cert.  Some questions:-

1.  What address is shown for William?

2.   What age is William?

3.   Who are the witnesses?
