Do you need two Ancestry subscriptions for relative matches for two kits?
« on: Wednesday 29 August 18 15:13 BST (UK) »
I have ordered two kits but am now slightly concerned I will have to get two subscriptions in order to get relative matches for both kits as Ancestry changed the policy last year? Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Don't know anything about changes last year but I think that as long as you set one up for you and then set yourself up as managing the second one you should be ok.

I have 3 set up as if under me, one mine and two others I manage.  I only have one sub.

Thanks Pheno, that's good to hear! I was worried that they were going to try and get more subscriptions by forcing one for each test!

When you get the results, look at gedmatch.Com

Its a site where you can compare your ancestry data with people who have used other testing companies.

Thanks Martin, yes I've heard of this, I'll have a look! Apparently you can upload to other company's databases too!

I have one subscription to Ancestry. I have done 2 DNA kits, one for me and one for my husband, who doesn't have a subscription.  I can manage his account

You need a separate account for each test but just set up free accounts.  Have a subscription on one account and on each of the free accounts set the account with subscription up as the manager of the results.

I have 2 tests for relatives in their 90's.  Neither have email accounts so am hoping that by creating 2 new gmail accounts for their DNA samples, it will allow me to register their samples via the Ancestry website (I have a subscription) and then I can choose to manage them.  Fingers crossed. Kit
