Following on from Annette's information about the Brancepeth baptism.

I looked at the Brancepeth Bishop Transcripts on Family Search
https://www.familysearch.org/search/film/004039485?cat=1810682

note These do not seem to come up in the usual Durham BTs collection which only seems to cover 1843-1847 for Brancepeth, Crook but if you search the catalogue for Brancepeth you can see a link to the digitised film for Brancepeth Bts 1762-1847

and the baptism entry that Annette posted says HEARON (which, as she said, is quite likely to be a version of Heron)

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G967-P3GL?i=189&cat=1810682

its not indexed so you will need to trawl through. It may help you find records to enable you to go back a bit further.

and the marriage for Robert Heron and Jane Sedgwick that Annette found has a bit more detail on Durham Records Online
03 Dec 1810 Robert Heron of St.Helen's, Auckland married Jane Sidgewick of this chapelry, by banns
Witnesses- Ann Wright, Timothy Heron, Thomas Heron

Once you have looked through the Brancepeth records and decided if you agree they are the right parents,  the detail may be useful should you want to go back another generation and two of the witnesses look likely to be relatives of the groom.

Thanks for all the information sent so far it is all of interest, and useful.
I have ordered several birth certs for this family, so that should hopefully open some new doors.
