I am wondering if there is a way to get the exact date and location of a marriage in Tynemouth in 1933, other than sending away for the marriage certificate. an anyone advise please?

You will need to buy a copy of the cert to get the exact date.  If you had known the location you may have been able to look it up in parish records
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Yes, you can  look the marriage up on the North Tyneside Registrars site, then check the code ( the code list is posted on the resources board)to see if it took place in an Anglican Church, then get a copy of the parish register entry from the archives which hold that register. If the code is not on the list its likely to be registrar office or registrar attended (non conformist).

Or look through the online newspapers to see if there was a marriage announcement.

Thank you

The code isn’t listed so it’s non Anglican or Registrar.

If its non anglican to get a copy from the local archives, if you don't know the church and the date, would incur a 'research fee' - which makes the cost of a civil cert look quite good.

If its a register office marriage your only option would be a civil cert.

Thanks for your help Boo

One final thing, which newspaper would it most likely have been announced in and where do I look for that?

Its hit and miss whether there was an announcement and unless you can get to the local area (libraries) or possibly the British Library the only source for old newspapers I know of is British Newspaper Archive (which is also included with a sub to Find My Past.) You'd need to check if they have scanned the year you are interested in.
My first thought would be the Newcastle papers (Evening Chronicle).
