The only mention I find of James is in 1881, last column: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article94761542

There are ‘Drumm’ in Tassie.

Also, an unassisted passenger James Drumm arriving to VIC on the HARRIET 1858 aged 18, IRISH

Finding a marriage would be most useful.

Think she was born 1881, as I posted earlier, reply #12.

BISA has 1887 for the birth of Frances.

There are often errors on this wonderful database.

South Australian Electoral Roll  1909
DRUMM Arthur James  Musgrave Street, Goodwood  Tobacco Twister
DRUMM Clara Emily   Musgrave Street, Goodwood  Home Duties

Death
DRUMM Arthur James  41 years  Status Married  Relative not recorded
20 Apr 1914
Residence Clarence Park    Death Eastwood    Nor S 383/250

I would suggest he died at Parkside Mental Hospital.  See my attachment below where he was admitted in 1912.

Symbol S indicates there may be more information on the certificate.
S. Supplementary Information. Additional unusual information included such as:
·   Previous Residence Listed.
·   Length of Residence in Colony Stated.
·   Deceased Child's Father is Deceased.
·   Deceased Maiden Name is Listed.
·   Junior/Senior of Deceased is listed.
·   Younger Son
·   Prison
·   State Child.
·   Guardian Named.
·   Adelaide Destitute or Lunatic Asylum listed ad  Residence or Death Place.
·   Unusual Death or amount of information on circumstances of Death.
·   Sister of Church if known as -  religious name stated.
·   Fuller details available re deaths at sea - longitude and latitude.
·   Final names reduced to initials due to space problems

From my resource Mental Patients' Estates.
Clara Jane DRUMMOND, nurse of Clarence Park, was admitted to the Enfield Receiving Home 27 Nov 1935 and on 7 Jan 1936 was admitted to Parkside Mental Hospital where she died in 1944.

Death
DRUMMOND Clara Jane  62 years  Status Widow  Relative James DRUMMOND [Deceased husband]
16 Jan 1944
Residence Parkside   Death Place  Parkside   Nor H 672/287

Appears to me that family were not accurate with Clara's place of residence in her death notice.  She had been in care since 1935.

Arthur James DRUMM's parents were married in London.
I have not yet found where the surname CHAPPLE comes to be attached to Frances.

Jun 1/4 1872
DRUMM James
REES Frances
Marylebone
 1a/1111

And Arthur was registered later that year.
Dec 1/4
DRUMM, Arthur James
Marylebone
1a/513

Another child
1874  Jun 1/4
DRUMM, Emily  Maud   ( mother maiden surname REES )
MARYLEBONE
1a /526

This girl died

Sep 1/4 1874
DRUMM Emily Maud
Aged    0
Marylebone
1a/363

I think you can assume that James Arthur arrived with his parents sometime after late 1874.
Evidence so far casts doubt on the Polynesian theory.
