Knowles family of Manchester

I'm hoping someone can help find the origins of the Knowles family.

Adam Knowles married Maria Dale on 29 December 1818 in Manchester. They had at least 7 children all born in Manchester. He listed his occupation as Butcher.

Their children were:
Jane Knowles 1820
Sarah Knowles 1823
Joseph Dale Knowles 1827
Harriett Knowles 1829
Frances Knowles 1831
Hellen/Ellen Knowles 1833
William Knowles 1836

Adam died 1 July 1842. We don't know his parents names or if he had any siblings. He was born around 1791. Can anyone find his baptism? Maria died in 1862.

Can only see 2 baptisms for an Adam Knowles bc.1791 anywhere and it brings up just 2, both in Matlock, Derbyshire (some 40 odd miles from Manchester).

Did you not view the 1841 entry?  It shows him not born in county

CaroleW - Rookie mistake. I have overlooked that and was relying more on the marriage record which says of this Parish. Theres also a 20 year old Cornelius Knowles living in the same house. Perhaps a nephew? If its the same person he marries in 1853, occupation is a butcher and was from Youlgrave, Derbyshire the son of John Knowles

His wife was born in Salford, Lancashire according to the 1851 census

Annette - thank you. Are there any corrupted variants in other locations Knowls, Knolls etc. Theres no Lydia in the childrens names which is not to say he didn't ignore naming traditions

Also not born in county.  Have you tried following Cornelius in the 1851/61 to establish exactly where he was born?

Derbyshire is looking the likeliest.  The 1861 has an Adam Knowles b 1812 Derbyshire but I can't make out the actual place he was born

Did Cornelius and Martha have children and are they in the 1861 census? Ive found a birth for Mary Ellen in 1854 but it looks like they oved back to Derbyshire.
