Help With Understanding Service Record - SOLVED Thank you
« on: Friday 31 August 18 15:41 BST (UK) »
Hello!
Please may I ask for help with the attached service record? It belongs to my direct ancestor Mark Wood who joined up in May 1873 & had a short but definitely not sweet military career.
There's just 3 sections I am struggling to decipher.

The first concerns his transfer between the 38th Regiment of Foot & the Coldstream Guards in Dec/Jan 1873. I can't work out what this means.

The second is his first misdemeanour - Imprisoned by ????? for assault and then confined, tried & imprisoned ????? out of ????

And the last - Discharged with ignominy by ???? on the 27th December.

Any help much appreciated, thank you
Cally

Second

Imprisoned by the Civil Power (that was for assault on the date given)

Then being out of barracks  they locked him up on 3 July ready to try him on 5 July.

More later.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

The first is a set of signatures:

Mac (something) Colonel Commanding
Oliver Lieutenant Acting Paymaster
Conor Lieutenant Adjutant

Third - sentenced to be discharged with ignominy by DCM (District Court martial)
