Thats fantastic Rosie, thanks. I'm finding Ancestry so frustrating. I put all that info into a search for the 1861 census for James Holmes and nothing appears, then I go to Family Search Mormon site and the same info generates the number one response.

Do you know a smart way of finding them in Ancestry as that is what I'm using as a tree builder?

The best way of finding them on Ancestry is to select the census year /country 
eg 1851 using that one I have just posted as an example

Thanks. Thats exactly what Ive been doing. Where does the HO107 go??? Its amazing that Ancestry cant find someone when you have name, place of birth, name of wife and 4 children and their ages and place of birth, but Family Search can???

HO107 relates to the year  1841 or 1851 so does not need to be entered.  Other census years are

1861 RG09
1871 RG10
1881 RG11
1891 RG12
1901 RG13
1911 RG14

 The 1881 was the first census to be transcribed and was done by the Mormon church members.  Other census transcribed on familysearch link to FindMyPast.
