Have you been able to identify where he was killed ie more closely than just Vimy?

MaxD
I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

I was about to suggest the same as MaxD. Going to where he fell although probably just a field. Armed with the battlefield map you should be able to locate it easily.
It rather depends on how far you want to travel but the Newfoundland War Memorial park is well worth a visit. It's at Albert about 30Km. from Arras which is a lovely old town & worth a tour in itself.

Looking at their diary shows them on & about the Marcoing Line S.W. of Sancourt Max.
A good trip would be from Arras to where he fell & along the D930 & D929 towards Albert, Thiepval Memorial & on to Beaumont Hamel & the Newfoundland Memorial Park & back to Arras.
