I am assuming that he was away in service of Royal marines; I have her in all census bar 1871, in 1861 she is head and a boat minder? of marine, sons Francis and Btron both born Stonehouse. The marine note meant the 1861 for Francis might fit as he was colour sargeant of a vessel? 1881 she is a widow and is a charwoman, 1891she was supported by the parish,1901 she was listed as cripple.

I think in 1861 it is "boot binder and marines wife"

1871 is above.

3) (most likely I think)  Mary Brady was nee Haydock and had Francis bn Mr Brady, he was then given his fathers name as a Middle name. Mary then either married Mr Brady later or just uses his surname.

Did also wonder if once we have Irish blood in the mix there may be cathoic records?

I concur with this being a likely scenario.

No Francis Brady or Francis Haydock in Catholic registers of Salmesbury  -  Baptisms 1753-1837; marriages 1754-1837; burials 1829-1835; Easter Penitents 1753-1884. (Lancashire Registers volume 4, published by Catholic Record Society, 1922)
Brindle registers are in same volume. A Mary Brady was baptised at Brindle 30th Dec. 1810, parents Michael & Ginny, born 26th Dec., sponsors Robert Bold & Mary Woods. Sister Ann was baptised 1807. Brindle registers; baptisms 1721-1816; marriages 1722-1834;
burials 1722-1840; + Confirmations, conversions and Confraternity of the Rosary. Notice no baptism register after 1817.
Index to CRS volume had only a few Brady names. There were also Bradely and Breadley, which may have been variants of Bradley. Plenty of Haydock entries,  also written as Haydoc and Haddock, but no Francis.

Btw there were plenty of Catholics in Lancashire long before influx of Irish as those registers show. The CRS book has detailed historical & biographical notes. Salmesbury had a continuous Catholic tradition.

Sorry if I have missed this - does he give a father’s name on his marriage certificate?

Who is Francis Brady Haydocks (bn 1850) father on his birth cert?  I see his mmn was Mills.
  Or on his marriage cert?

I asked earlier, but I don't think we have heard.

Hi, I have hit a wall (it seems to happen often! :( )
I believe Francis Bready (possibly Brady) Ha(e)yDock is my GG grandfather.
I have his marriage to Harriet Mills in 1849.

Whom did Francis name as his father when he married?
