Major Anthony Norman Druce in WWII
« on: Wednesday 05 September 18 10:36 BST (UK) »
Hello,
I am trying to find out more about Major Anthony Norman Druce b.1908. I believe he served in the Parachute Regiment and in SOE. Does anyone know of any actions he was involved with and or any decorations.
Thank you

Unless he appears in a published history somewhere, then the only way of knowing about his service is to get his service record.

That said, the only mention of a man by that name in the London Gazette (where you would expect to see decorations and, in the case of officers, promotions) is for a Royal Signals Lance Corporal granted a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the Intelligence Corps dated 18 May 1945, later effective November 1945 to Lieutenant.  In neither reference is there a decoration.  He resigned his commission (still a Lieutenant) on 6 July 1949 and was granted the honorary rank of major which is a signal of achievement and dedication.

If he served in SOE or one of the other sneaky beaky outfits, his file is likely to be fairly thin.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
