Good that he is remembered in his home area too Lizzie,I've visited Tyne cot my Great uncle was killed
in November 1917 and is recorded on the memorial to the missing in the Cemetery a beautiful peacefull
place now, look's like the reference to the Hussar's might have been taken from soldier's died as the have
a habit of listing previous regiment's ie Hussar's but not which regiment.I could throw a question out
on The Great War Forum with your permission they tend to get info no one else can find!

Thank you, I would be very grateful if you could find whether anyone on the Great War Forum has any further information. We have been asked to write a bit about him to accompany the artefacts we gave the Stortford Museum, and it would be nice to have a bit more information if possible.

Hi Lizzie, nothing of note from the GWF as yet I found Thomas's medal roll which put's him with the
Rank of Private with the DLI in France on 12/10/1915 thus qualifying for the 14/15 Star no mention of
the Hussar's though and these roll's usually carry other regiment's served, later the entitlement of the
British war medal and Victory medal is added with the rank of Corporal.
Regard's Steve.

I think that the uniform in question is most likely that of a Boys Brigade Officer band member, from the 1920's, as already noted.

The attached link is to a photograph of a Co. Durham officer group (Ushaw Moor Church Boy’s Brigade).

Hi Lizzie, checked SDGW and record's confirm service with the Hussar's, as suspected which regiment
is not  recorded ,I had noticed on the date of Thomas's death a fair few other 10th DLI casualties so asked
the good folk on GWF for info on the Battalion's action's at the time which was near the end of 3rd ypres
or better known as Passchendaele
