Cape Town marriages
« on: Thursday 06 September 18 15:05 BST (UK) »
My grandfather Henry Longmore Chapman was married in Cape Town to Mary Ann Catherine McCarthy (translated as McCaslley), I have the page and entry number and I wondered where I can get a copy and how much it would cost.
Thanks
Chapman - Antrim/Liverpool
Harde - Swansea
Lewis - Glamorgan
Eley - Lincolnshire

I, personally, can't give you an answer.  However, a timescale may be of help to those who can offer assistance.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hi BumbleB,  Oppps that of course should be noseyoap

If you haven't already done so, register and sign into FamilySearch(dot)org  No subscription required.

Use 'Search', then 'Records' fill in the details requred.  If that doesn't provide any hits then try:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/image/index?owc=SFV7-3TL%3A44975801%3Fcc%3D1468076

It rather looks as if they have access to a massive data/paperbase but are possibly overwhelmed with providing 'search' links to that data.

The link should provide a path to Anglican Churches in South Africa.

I've found it to be an incredible resource.

I did have a look at FS but couldn't readily see anything - hence my request for a timescale.  :)

Thats absolutely great JohnG_Swansea have found it straight away thank you. This is my grandfathers first marriage and once again he has lied about his age as he was born in 1845, on his second marriage to my grandmother he took about 12 years off his age!
