Yes, thank you Sarah.  Good to hear that whoever was responsible for this has been thwarted in their tracks.  I would like to think they might find something more productive to do with their time but I am not going to hold my breath.

Some spam is for search engine optimisation (SEO). If a link or keyword can be planted in a post, and not removed, it is then found in searches for the keyword. This can improve the search engine ranking of a site.
