four hours up the spout
« on: Saturday 08 September 18 15:57 BST (UK) »
Ancestry is playing up!! fgs

I spent 4 hours searching specific Census.. where the person needed is NOT named as head or main or dtr etc.. so difficult to search

found them in 1871 1891 1901 and 1911 so added as per always.. and NOW they have GONE !!!!  just totally not on the page I added them to.

what the .....................  that has not happened to me before.

I tried refreshing and reloading etc .. but NOPE  -- I have to find them again..
Luckily I know what to search for  this time and will save them to dsk top as well.. But unless you actually add the specific census to the specific person via Ancestry.. it is NOT shown in the records..   What I mean is - had I downloaded and copied and or pasted whatever, it would NOT show in Ancestry's record only as an added fact.

Does any of that make any sense..  I doubt it..

right go and see if I can right it.

If you add the reference, you should be able to find it again?

Census Reference = Class; Piece; Folio; and Page - for 1851-1901.
For 1841 there is also a Book No to add between Piece and Folio.
For 1911 it is Class and Schedule No.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

I just switched laptop off -- left it and then went back on... to find that they were still missing.

Went through my records and it showed the attached:

So I went back to her page and nothing..  Went through the motions of attaching 1861 again

and they ALL appeared.. so it was a blip.. that I am not patient enough to handle today :)

sorry hopefully they will stay now.

It could possibly have shown up in your Browser history, Xin.

Darned annoying for you, that is.

PS - Ancestry does seem to have a mind of it's own that's not always logical  :-X
