Sarah possibly might be Sarah Masters?
There's one in Newington in 1871, born Ilchester
The visitor in 1881, Georgina Masters, would probably then be her sister (parents John + Ann)
But all those ages would be out, with Sarah being born in 1846?

Phew, thank you all for your interest. Arthur has been a problem for me for some time.

A little while ago, I received a message from my brother stating that where they were living at the time of marriage was in Spring Gardens Lambeth. This was classed as poor or very poor in the 1899 Poverty Survey.

Mckha489, thank you for that information re the 1871 census. I simply had not found it before.

Rosie99, I do have Ellens birth certificate. She was born 17 Jan 1879, mothers maiden name being formerly Ward.

Arthur and Kate were married by Banns, according to the marriage certificate, at the Parish Church of St Mary Lambeth, so they, in theory, attended the church for a few weeks before hand.

jonw65, Sarah Masters is a possibility, one I had not thought of connecting Sarah and Georgina, too much else thinking about to connect possible dots :-[0

The other problem is, what happened to Kate? Did she die, did she go away, or just vanish  into the ether. If I can sort that out, it may help with the appearance of Sarah

Again, many thanks to you all. I will now have to go away and sort things out, and see how things pan out. (Do some thinking, ouch)
