Vahey, McCarthy, Hovasse - Massachusetts

Hello,

Mary Ellen Vahey b 7 Aug 1909 Cambridge, Massachusetts, died 13 Oct 2001, Melrose, Middlesex, Mass.

Have her in 1920 census with widowed father James Joseph Vahey, b 1875, Ireland, d 1935, Mass - Unable to locate 1910 census with mother Mary, née Bagot/Baggot born 1886 Ireland, died 10 Feb 1919 Massachusetts (my line)

By 1930 census she is still with father and 2nd wife, married with a son Lawrence J McCarthy, b 7 Sept 1928.  No father/husband listed on census. Lawrence died 2008. Possibly first husband is called Timothy, unable to locate marriage or death.

By 1940 census she is with 2nd husband Joseph Hovasse, b 1909, first son Lawrence McCarthy, age 11 and 3 further Hovasse children, firstborn a girl in c1934 then 3 sons. 2 prior to 1940 on census, the 4th son b ? after census taken.

Unsure If Hovasse children still living. So no names given.

If possible would like to find marriage details of husbands and births or bapts of all children & possible deaths/burials of her family.

Thanks if you can help, or point me in the direction of Massachusetts BMD after 1920/1930s. Any info appreciated.

I am Mary Hovasse's Grandson.

Hello, welcome to Rootschat.

My interest in this family is the connection of Mary Baggot, mother of Mary Ellen Vahey.  Mary Baggot was the youngest sister to my Great grandmother Bridget, both born Galway Ireland.

There are a number of DNA connections to the Vahey & Hovasse families.

My Dad is her youngest son.   Born in 1941 Chelsea Ma.   He is still alive.   I know my great grandmother died very young and my great grandfather remarried (Vahey).   How can I help?

I think I have most of the history on the Baggot line going back to parents and grandparents of Mary & Bridget Baggot, also their brothers. Not researched this line for a while as unable to get further back in Ireland due to lack of records.
