I think the first word starts with Ves so I'd go with Bookbox's first suggestion - Vestry

I'm pretty sure the first two letters are V e.

If it's Veterinary (abbreviated), it could be Surgeon, but it does look like a t at the end. Compare the -ur- in Curate below ?

I agree with Bookbox [& Gadget], the 2nd letter of first word looks like 'e' with the first letter nothing like 'C'. 

ADDED: If it is 'Vestry' then the letters are all there so why have 'tr' in superscript? A farrier might be considered to have some knowledge of animal health & illness, so am inclined to go with 'Veterinary'.

Is he the one who is recorded as a farrier in your other post, Lizzie?

Added -posted before saying - it would be most likely be a Veterinary (abr) Surgeon in that case

I thought it was Sergeant at first sight but I think we've moved on from there

The vet practice I use was apparently started by a Farrier in the 1800's   :)

yes he was a farrier n 41 census and baptisms on children . thank you everyone , I think vet surgeon is most likely
