James Hastie Unthank
« on: Monday 10 September 18 12:49 BST (UK) »
My Aunt Mary Dixon Hastie b. 1895 in Berwick on Tweed married James Alexander Unthank B 1891 in Berwick . They had a son James Hastie Unthank b. 1912 in Berwick. I have found his birth but cannot trace anything after that. I know the family moved at some point to the Hull area. any info on James much appreciated. Thanks Heather

1939 National Register is showing a James Unthank, born 1892, Single, Smallware Pedlar at 10 Ryland Avenue, Kingston-upon-Hull.

That could be the father?

James junior would have been of an age for call up for WW2, so unlikely to show up in the 1939 Register.

If the tree is correct, although no verification is shown, James died ‘about 1942’. His wife did remarry.
I can't see a death so perhaps, if it is him, the death was due to WW2.
Nothing in CWGC record though.

Is this the same family? It says the father was a W. Unthank  :-\

However William Paxton Unthank (born 1 q. 1911) and James Hastie Unthank both shared mother's maiden name Hastie  :-\

If it is the right James this means he was still alive in 1945. Article from Berwick Advertiser 24 May 1945

Edit: ignore this posting and the next one - it's a different family (see reply #8)

William Paxton Unthank is in the same household as James and Mary in 1911

I think the chaps from the newspaper article were born in the 1920's-mmn Davidson.

William P UNTHANK married an Annie DAVIDSON 1910?
