Alexander George and Margaret Youngson
« on: Monday 10 September 18 16:59 BST (UK) »
Alexander George and Margaret Youngson were married 31 December 1805 in Peterhead, they had 2 children Alexander 1807-1889 and Jean/Jane 1813-1902.  Margaret was born on 30th November 1773.  I do not know anything about Alexander George and cannot find any deaths for them but on the ANEFHS Site there is the following but no date:  Burial Ground: Old Deer

Stone: 317

(Very fragile) . . . . . . ALEXANDER GEORGE . . . . . in Kingcastle. MARGARET . . .. .d.June . . . .
Does anyone else have either Margaret or Alexander (or both) in their family trees and also does anyone know where Kingcastle is please?  Thanks.

Another place name that has cropped up in the birth of the children and also where the children continued to farm is Damhead, has anyone heard of this place please?  Thanks.

Damhead is a very common place name. There are Damheads in 20 of the 33 counties of Scotland, and in Aberdeenshire alone there are no fewer than sixteen parishes in which a Damhead is mentioned.

Assuming that you are looking for the Damhead in the parish of Old Deer, it is about a mile south-west of Stuartfield.

If you click on the blue button in the box on the left, and slide it to the left, you can see from the satellite view that there is no trace of it left.

I have yet to find Kingcastle, however. Unless it is a mistake for King's Crown which is almost next door to where Damhead was.

The 1841 census lists at Damhead Alexander George, 30 and Jean George, 25. In the next household there is Jean Youngson, 55. There are five households at King's Crown.

In 1851 Alexander George, 42, is farmer at Damhead, and his sister Jane, 38, is keeping house for him. Jane Youngson, 68, is in the next household there.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
