Barbara Souter, 'Far Wife'

Can anyone tell me the meaning of 'Far Wife'  as occupation on an 1861 census return for Kennethmont.
William Souter, Farmer, born abt 1806, Barbara,  wife, born abt 1830, occupation Far wife and 3 children aged 5, 3 and 11 months. Thanks

Thanks, I've come across this more than once on Scottish records and wondered if it meant she was normally living away. Never come across the abbreviation on an English Census. That would seem to make sense.
 Sorry it posted twice. I did check and neither request had appeared to post even logged in again and it hadn't appeared.
