Print signatures
« on: Wednesday 12 September 18 09:08 BST (UK) »
Hi folks - not exactly genealogy but someone I know was given 4 or 5 old etchings by what looks to be 2 different artists.

A couple of the etchings are clearly by an artist called E. Mary Shelley and are dated 1920. I've had no problem finding other works by her.

However on the remaining etchings I can't make out the signatures which are quite faint so I've attached 2 images here, one of which I've adjusted as far as I dare.

I see what looks to be Mary H Lee but I'd like other opinions.

I would say that they are both  Mary H Lee with very little space between the H and L

Right I'm pleased with the Mary H Lee. Given the other etchings were E Mary Shelley I kept looking at it to see if it was somehow Mary Shelley in an earlier or later form as they are both quite similar names? The etching styles are quite different though.

Are they etchings with acid or engravings with a dry point, etc.?
