Question .... could Darcyville and Kingsford be different names for same suburb?  or could 24 Cook Parade Darcyville ever be considered as Kingsford?

1935 NSW ER
I have found there's Two people listed at 24 Cook Ave, Darceyville with the 'right' spelling for the surname.  ???

JM

Google has it as Daceyville. Yes, it’s Kingsford.

Hello Jamjar & JM,

I have been that same route before and feel like 'I'm getting whiplash; wonder why he is using George rather than Thomas???

I should be able to obtain his death certificate which may help although the mother is different to the mother he stated previously.  In addition he married for the second time in 1929 which is the same year his divorce was absolute.  Maybe there was a cross over which may account for the different name although his family were extremely adept with using different names.

i have purchased the birth certificate for the 1883 birth of Henry George and that child definitely dies as an infant.

No, you need to be wondering why he was using Thomas instead of George which was his correct middle name.

There is a Henry G: 8594/1899 HARGRAVE HENRY G parents CHARLES and MATILDA F WOONONA

Jamjar

Date of birth for this child was 26 Dec 1898.

I see he slipped up when signing his name on the stat dec. in his service record.  I would say that it was just something as simple as finding out his correct middle name later in life.

Hi Debra,

Where did you locate his date of birth please?

edit Also his baptism record for the date of birth you note has him as Henry Thomas.  His AIF record has him as Henry Thomas. He married Agnes MARTIN as Henry Thomas.

You can search with date of birth in the online indexes.

https://familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au/lifelink/familyhistory/search/births

The marriage, as recorded on NSWBDM:

5252/1879 HARGRAVES Charles to PTRYLOR Matilda F WOLLONGONG

Jamjar

Just as a matter of interest, Matilda's surname was recorded quite clearly as TRYLOR when she married, and on this same church register entry her father's surname was corrected from TAYLOR to TRYLOR.  None of her family could sign their names so it was all written by the clergy.  Possibly a variation of the more common TRELOAR.

What I am saying is that at some later stage he may have acquired a copy of his birth cert and started using the name recorded on that.
