Would SKS be able to find a couple of deaths for me?
« on: Wednesday 12 September 18 18:49 BST (UK) »
Evening all

I have found a couple of entries on the U.K. government find a will website that are of interest to me, but try as I might I cannot turn up the relevant death registration, on ancestry, Findmypast, familysearch.

Would anyone be able to help?
Obviously these are too recent to be on the GRO site

Kathleen Elton, date of death 16th August 1997, grant and will at Bristol on 8th October 1997
And
Catherine Elton, date of death 22nd January 2008, grant and will at Bristol on 9th April 2008

Many thanks
Lisa

Kathleen Elton, born 20 September 1906, died Sept. quarter 1997, Croydon, Dist. No. 2251B, Reg No. B81B, Entry No. 113.  Date reg. 08/07, county of Surrey.

For 2008 you will have to look elsewhere.  Online deaths only go up to 2007.

Thank you.  Kathleen who died in 1997 is definitely not the lady I am looking for.

Below is a list of places where you can search the GRO indexes that are after 2006

Find index reference numbers in person
You can also search for index reference numbers for free at:
•   Library of Birmingham
•   Bridgend Local and Family History Centre
•   City of Westminster Archives Centre
•   Manchester Central Library
•   Newcastle City Library
•   Plymouth Central Library
•   The British Library (you’ll need to register first)
These are the only complete copies of the full sets of index reference numbers. They’re on microfiche.

You have to go in person to search the records.

1917 - 1920 in Westmeath, Ireland. Elton was her married name. I am waiting for Irishgenealogy.ie to release another set of records (hopefully in November this year) to rule out or rule in the 1917 birth. She is my husbands great aunt, my mother cared for her in a nursing home prior to her death, but mum cannot remember when she died.

Where was she cared for and is Kathleen her first name or could it be a second name?

To the best of my knowledge it’s her first name. The nursing home was in South Gloucestershire, registration district could be Chipping Sodbury, or Bristol if she was transferred to hospital.

Or the first name could be Catherine, Katherine, Kathleen, Cathleen, Kathryn! We knew her as Kit.

Not finding anything likely at the moment.

Do you know what her husband's name was, when did he die and when did Kathleen arrive in England?  Was her husband with her at that time?

I assume this is the will record that you found?

ELTON   KATHLEEN   08 October 1997   9751411801   18 August 1997   Grant and will   Bristol

I cannot find any death registration for this death in Bristol.  Have you considered obtaining the will for the above?
