Many thanks for all your hard work, it is very much appreciated. Normally you can find these different spelling by cross referencing BMD, Census records and Family Search and come up with an answer. Thought Camain may have been Irish.

Entry in St Matthew, Rastrick burial registers:

21 September 1862 - Gerald Canane of Brighouse, aged 53.  Grave reference I 26.

Thank you. I now know he was born in Ireland. I will leave that research alone.
