Shirley Phyllis Maria Audley

That's interesting. The other Audley who travelled from New York to the Lewis flats in Chelsea in 1931 was Phyllis Nellie Audley, born circa 1906, a clerk, British subject.

Hi ShaunJ,
That is really interesting.

I have found another passenger list going from England to USA on 18th July 1949, with passengers:
Sybil Audley aged 43
Paul Audley aged 13 and
Shirley Audley age 18
and their last address in England is recorded as D16 Lewis Flats, Chelsea!!
So can anyone tell me who was living at D16 Lewis Flats, Chelsea?
She could have been visiting her grandparents again

Regards

Haven't yet checked D16 in 1949, I will get to that shortly.

Phyllis N Audley arrived in New York 22 March 1930 on the Berengaria, to join husband Henry Audley in Washington DC (223 12th Street). Nearest relative in the UK: her father Geo.Smith, 48, A, Lewis Flats, Ixworth Place, London.

Shaun J

This gets more and more complicated.

I am going to have to sit down and write this all up in a single file to understand what is happening!!

There's a public tree on Ancestry that's worth a visit: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/26518633/person/1859156070/facts

Hi ShaunJ

Many thanks for the link to the Public Family Tree on Ancestry. I have had a look at this family tree in some detail and I have a number of issues with it. I have been looking at the page headed 'Henry Peter Audley date of birth 24th March 1908, London, England.

On the right hand side it gives his parents as Pierre Conte & Matheurine Le Moigne !!
It gives the 1901 census as a source of evidence for his birth in 1908 If you view the 1901 census it is for a Henry A Audsley and not a Peter Henry Audley.

The link to the FreeBMD index also refers to a  Henry A Audsley and not a Peter Henry Audley

Whilst the Public tree may contain some good information parts of it look suspect in my opinion
