Identify place name please on parish record
« on: Saturday 15 September 18 16:29 BST (UK) »
Hi there

In the marriage parish record for Rosscarbery, Cork 1867 Catherine Barrett is shown as coming from a place which looks like Ballyvitchy. This does not appear to exist! I have searched for anything similar but not found anything which might be a good alternative. I think the family was living in Rosscarbery in the 1850s - so maybe somewhere near? I would be grateful for any ideas please. It would really help with my research.I have attached an enlarged photo.

Many thanks

Liz

could it be some alternate spelling of Ballyvackey, it's not too far away https://www.logainm.ie/en/9007?s=Ballyvackey

This is a bit clearer. The photo seems to be a bit more cropped than mine.
