Hi All,
I am researching Samuel Hunter born to Andrew and Mary Hunter who were married 1844.  On arrival in Australia in 1867 he changed his name to Samuel Hunter Magill.  Anyone out there with any information re Samuel or his family who were rumoured to have gone to Canada.  Cheers , K

Hi Annie,

My God you're fast with your research.  I have all info relating to Samuel after his arrival in Australia, occupation, location, family details etc including all descendants to the present day. We communicate on a regular basis and share all information.  My task at present is verifying WHY he chose to add MAGILL to his surname and on what ship he arrived.  Family lore indicates that he arrived in NSW on his 20th birthday 20 Dec 1867.  He married Margaret Towers ( daughter of Catherine McKenna ) in 1868.   Perusal of all shipping details shows the Sir Robert Sale, out of Plymouth, as arriving on that date however his name is not on the listing for crew or passengers.  His family were thought to have gone to Canada which a lot of Irish did at the time.   Cheers, Kieran

In relation to the 1851 Census, I am 'proficient' in EXCEL and have broken it down several degrees so that it can be queried by name, occupation, townland etc ...  I've cross-referenced the data to search for all occurences that suit my research.  Happy to share if interested... Cheers, Kieran
