Emma Caroline McLewee - London
« on: Sunday 16 September 18 13:54 BST (UK) »
The attached photograph is of Emma Caroline McLewee of London, however there are 2 of them mother & daughter, mothers maiden name is Bayne and was born abt 1839, her daughter was born 1859. So based upon apparent age and style of dress which of them is the most likely, my mother believed it to be the daughter whom she would have known.

Thanks

I think it could be the Daughter too.

Hope you don't mind me giving the picture a quick cleaning and touch-up. Such a distinguished looking lady didn't need her photo damaged.

I just like to do photo restores.

It might be a little difficult to determine which is which as there is only eighteen years between them
according to your figures so either could be dressed in this style which appears late Victorian. I have altered the contrast of your picture and I think you should probably go with Mum on this one, regards, John.

Thanks for the tweaks and suggestions, my gut feeling is that it is the daughter but just had a little doubt, my mother who labelled the photo must have known 'Aunt Emma' (the daughter) .

What do you think is the approximated date of the photograph given that she was born in 1859 and my guess is that she was between 50 & 60 (however I'm generally a bad judge of peoples age), would the style of dress fit into the year range of 1909-1919 ?

Thanks

I would put her age at around late 50s early 60s.
