Where buried if died 1949 Ballyfarnon area?
« on: Sunday 16 September 18 17:08 BST (UK) »
My father's granduncle Andrew Martin died on 31 May 1949 in Curnagrea, Ballyfarnon, Boyle, Roscommon.  One of Andrew's daughters, Annie Josephine Martin married Patrick Joe MULLANEY of Curnagrea ~1941 and Patrick Joe was the informant on Andrew's death record.  They were catholic.

Where would Andrew Martin have been buried?

Andrew lived most of his life in Barroe North, Sligo.  Andrew was the son of John Martin (b. 1835, d. 29 Aug 1910, Barroe North) and Bridget Mcloughlin (b. 1841  d. 20 Jun 1889).  We don't know too much about either the Martins or the McLoughlin families before 1835-1840's.

Thanks Hallmark.  I believe that there are graveyards in the area that have not been mapped yet so I wanted some guidance where I should look on my next visit.  I've searched myself in Ballindoon and online in Kilmactranny.

https://www.johngrenham.com for kilmactranny gravestone transcripts - indicates that there area offline cemetery transcriptions Foyoges, Highwood church, Kilmactranny church & graveyard, Geevagh church graveyards.

Sligo genealogy Centre indicate that they have 736 names relating to Kilmactranny Graveyard, 392 relevant to Carrick Graveyard down to only 27 names listed in Geevagh Church graveyard. The legible gravestones in these graveyards were surveyed back in the 1980s and have not been updated since.  So it doesn't sound like these are completely surveyed.
