Help with a registratn district???
« on: Sunday 16 September 18 20:57 BST (UK) »
What registration district would I look in to find BMD records for Uddington, Bothwell or Tannochside? It would be during 1891-1901. I'm totally lost  :o

Thank you in advance for your help :)

Probably under Bothwell 625/1. When the registration districts were created in 1855 they were based on (mainly) the existing parishes. Uddingston and Tanochside were/are in Bothwell parish. The parish was actually split in two 625/1 covering Bothwell and 625/2 covering Holytown, these district were in use between 1855 and 1963. Looking at the 1891 street index (https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/files//research/census-records/street-indexes/1891/1891-bothwell.pdf) Uddingston and Tannochside were in Bothwell 625/1/.

Yes. In 1891 they are living in Tannochside, Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland. I was able to find one death very quickly as that person died in the Royal Infirmary and there weren'y many options for him...Robert Bonar. He died from a serious fall. His wife though....cannot find her. When Robert died he was a widower so his wife died sometime between 1891 and 1896/7. I'll take another look.

Thanks  ;D

Thanks for this info. So Bothwell I guess. I'll look at Holytown too.

Okay I found the wife in Rutherglen  ??? I had two possibles after narrowing down my search and using the fuzzy option and managed to pick the right one. Lucky me  :o Not sure why she was there in 1893 as her husband's regular address at death in 1896 was definitely given as being Tannochside. All the census records I've found are for Bothwell. Oh well :)

Thank you for your help.
