George Aitchison/Aitcheson
« on: Monday 17 September 18 14:37 BST (UK) »
I am looking for George Aitchison b 24 Sep 1822 in Old Monkland to John Aitcheson and Barbara Hay.
Both parents appear to have died by 1841 census as younger siblings James & John are living with their older sister Bethea Wilson. Some on-line family trees suggest that he may have emigrated but when checking through the marriage details these give the wrong parents. This George should not be confused with his cousins George b1815 & George born 1820 ( could be the same!) to Arthur Aitcheson & Margaret Thomson.

Could George b 1822 have died young?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Yes it is a possibility although no death has been found. I was hoping that someone might have some evidence to support this theory - or not. It is especially confusing when I find family trees that suggest he went to Canada but the proof is lacking. Not helped by the repeated use of the same names within the family.

You are right to be wary of online trees. Never believe anything you find online unless it is an image of an original document! And even then be cautious.
