It would have been hard work and long hours .

My gt gt grandmother was there on the 1901 census, although I don`t know when she was admitted. This has reminded me that I put that question on a back burner to be looked at later! She died there in 1902 age given as 72, which is 2 or 3 years out, but the informant was her son in law so I know I`ve got the right person.

You may be able to access her medical records in the archive in Edinburgh. See

Thank you. A good excuse to also go to Edinburgh ! She had a sorry life; born illegitimate, deserted by husband and died by " tumour and softening of the Brains "

Dingleton asylum/hospital doesn't exist anymore - now a housing development it was closed in the 90's
