Cobb family in Woolwich
« on: Tuesday 18 September 18 12:07 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the Cobb family on the 1911 census, but to date I have been unable to find them. I have tried different variations of the name, searched on less and searched on more, but have had no luck. I could not find one member of the family. On the 1901 the family were residing at 47 Tennock Street, Woolwich.

The family members are David John Cobb, born about 1837, married to his second wife Emma Jane, born 19th Feb 1865, Manchester, their chlldren, Gladys Eveline Cobb, born 7th November 1891, Edith Alice Cobb, born 18th July 1894 Leonard Watkins Lockyer Cobb, born 7th April 1898, Sydney John Cobb, born 5th October 1889 and Cecil David Cobb, born about 1900.

I would be grateful if anyone could find them on the 1911 census.

Regards

Martin

There is a marriage that didn't happen for Leonard Watkins Lockyer Cobb -

record filled in for 8th Sep 1924, Aldershot, to Vera May Mitchell. His father David John, deceased.

But it is crossed through "cancelled". I wonder why it never went ahead.

And yet it is in the birth indexes - so maybe it was just a change of venue.

He dies 1985.

You may already have all this!

Hi Lizdb

Thank you for your reply. I have seen the crossed out marriage, but then the marriage does take place 11th October 1924, same location. To date not quite sure of the first cancellation.

Have you deaths for David John and Emma Jane?

Wondering if one or other passed away before 1911 and the family was split up.

I also have David J dying in 1915. I have his wife Emma Jane, dying 1948 in the district of Ilford, Essex. I have marriages for the three boys.
