Bakery North Collingham,
« on: Wednesday 19 September 18 11:10 BST (UK) »

Looking for any information on the Bakery North Collingham, Nottinghamshire.

From the information I have Leopold Henry Day and his wife Mary Day (Kidman) were of the Bakery North Collingham. Was this their bussiness or just work there -have no dates.

Leopold died 31 Dec 1938  Bromhead Nursing Home Lincoln. His wife Mary died 24 Feb 1962 at 122 Boultham Park Road Lincoln.

http://collingham-history.org.uk/picture-gallery/ has a photo c1964 (aerial view, 11th image from top).

Large 2 storey building with outbuildings - I would say the family lived on the upper floor.

Thank you so much for that Philip  :D. Very much appreciated.

A wonderful photograph and can now visulise where they lived from whatever year. Gives Leopold's name too, so I know it was his bakery.

Had a look at the1939 register. Initially confused by entry - but realise father/son apparently in same profession? -

Found an entry on the '39 register under Mabel Day - the given name Mabel ties in with "Mabel, widow" under "Leopold the elder's" will details

I haven't any information at the moment regarding their children but, it is possible they had a son in the same profession.

Yes, I do have this information as well as Mabels and it's where I came across the Bakery North Collingham address as well as their death details. After looking at Mary's will again, it names Leopold Henry Day, baker - their son.

Thank you.

Thank you for looking up all this for me, it's lovely to get the family together and know the son lived next door in Rose Villa. I see Leopold H Day the son, died 1999 - Lincolnshire.

Does get a tad confusing with father and son having the same name.

From the information it looks as if they moved from Huntingdon to Newark, around 1911/1912

I see they named a son Randolph R Day  b. 17 Nov 1914. He may have been named after Mabel's brother, Thomas Randolph Kidman, who, as it happens was a Master Baker and confectioner in Acton.
