Sarah Froud bapt 1809 East Challow - what happened to her?

Hi all,

I have in my tree a Sarah Froud bapt. 30-12-1809 in East Challow, Berks (d/o John & Mary nee Lambourn) all taken from the East Challow records, and am trying to find what happened to her - did she die young, get married and move away.

There are some trees on Ancy... saying she was from Chieveley and married a Joseph Leach and raised her family. Even suggesting she was born in Chieveley but bapt in East Challow.

I'm finding it hard to follow that line and wonder if anyone can come up with a an alternative line.

I have details of a marriage of Sarah Frood to Joseph Leach in 1832 Chieveley, with both being buried there in 1882 & 1886 which supports all the details above but is it the same Sarah Froud?

Any thoughts most appreciated?

eldest child listed is John same name as her father

also listed is a niece age 5 called Mary Froud

There's a birth of a Henry Edwards reg Q1 Wantage dist mmn Spouds. Could that have been a very faint badly written Froud on the original?

Can't find Mary Froud's birth on GRO index, but it does come up on FreeBMD, so she was registered.

Hi Millipede & LizzieL,

Thank you both for your help. I think you may have found the missing part of the puzzle.

Ardington is only a parish away from East Challow.  In the EC registers there are bapts. for Henry (10-2-1850), John (17-1-1837), William (16-5-1844) & Mary (24-1-1847) all with parents John & Sarah Edwards (either a Labr. or Boatman). These tie in nicely to the 1851 census you found. Also found a John Edwards bapt. 30-1-1803 in Wootten Bassett, again connecting up with the 1851.

Son.  John Edwards gets married in 1857 also a boatman (s/o John), and there are burials for John 4-6-1879 aged 76 and Sarah 28-1-1892 aged 82. These  all connect up well.

Who are the parents of your Mary Lambourn, Alan?  I have an interest in the Lambourn family from Wantage (various spelling variations, Lamboll, Lamball etc).

Hi Sloe Gin,

The Mary Lambourn I have as the wife of John Froud, was bapt. in Cholsey (10-3-1782) the d/o William Lambourn and Frances Warwick. The parents married in Cholsey on 20-10-1777.
I haven't carried on with William's line but did record that Frances was bapt. 18-11-1745 Cholsey the d/o John Warwick & Frances.(not pursued further).
