I am looking for any thing  to start off, birth certificate , Parents, Marriage cert. etc.
Her mother Margaret Flett (nee Goudie) born 1806 Orkney Scotland, married John Flett born 1802 Orphir Orkney, that if I have my info right.
looking forward  for help.

Perhaps you need a library in Orkney?

http://www.cursiter.com

John FLETT married Margaret Goudie 15 Mar 1827,                                                                         Stromness, Orkney, Scotland

There will only be a baptism for their daughter Margaret Harvey Flett, no birth certificate.

thank you so much for getting back to me,
so I was right about her parents, now to trace John Flett's parents is so hard from here, because there are so many John Flett's ,I don't know who belongs to who, I don't know if i'm getting too old for this or not. ha ha ha
I checked my Tree and I do have the 1851 census for my G G grandmother, thank you.

Just thinking is there someone I could get in touch with to trace these two links , Flett and Goudie for me over in Orkney?
You have been wonderful, thanks again,
regards Lynda.

Another thread?

"1851
Johnstone's Close, off Main Street, Stromness - ED 2 Page 5

Sarah Gaudie, 70, bed ridden
Jacobina Gaudie, d, 30, house servant
Margaret Flett, d, 48
James G Flett, 15
Margt H Flett, 5

all b. Evie, Orkney"

All ready been covered? by Gadget

So Margaret Harvey Flett must have married (?) Joseph Deering between 1861 - 1868, where (?)

Maybe this should have been posted on the Orkney board?

You do realise there will not be a marriage certificate for Margaret Harvey Flett and Joseph Deering if they married in Scotland?

"Scotland did not allow civil marriages until 1939"

So the marriage would have taken place via a religious ceremony if in Orkney.
