Rosie,
I wonder whether those Booth Notebooks can be viewed anywhere, perhaps they have been digitized or whatever the expression is, and put online somewhere.  You can certainly see the maps online, I do know that!  Would be great fun to see that original entry for Mary Ann CLAPP.  She apparently lived on until 1932, outliving her husband by 46 years.  What a strong person she must have been, need to find out more about her...

But sadly

“Why can't I access all of the notebooks?

Charles Booth's London contains digitised versions of some but not all of the extensive series of notebooks produced as part of Booth's Inquiry. Therefore, it is possible that a search of the notebooks catalogue will return results for items that are not available to view on this website.

If you wish to access notebooks which have not been digitised, you are welcome to visit LSE Library's Reading Room to view the original or published versions of the notebooks.

Hi, Mckha489,
Thanks so much for those, and as you say, perhaps I need to get down to London and have a look in their LSE Library...

Just as a postscript to this most productive and illuminating thread.
Have managed to locate Mary Ann CLAPP's final resting place in 1932 in Manor Park Cemetery, aged 87, and the plot position.  Need to discover whether the family could afford a headstone by then, and whether a visit to pay one's respects might be in order therefore.
Thanks so much everyone for all your help on here.

Rosie,
Have had a good look at the list of names you've so kindly sent me by PM...
Looks more than likely that it was a common grave, perhaps.  I do hope some members of her family  were there at least to pay their final respects when she was laid to rest.  I don't imagine a headstone, therefore...
