John and Florence McInnes, married in England in 1942
« on: Sunday 23 September 18 00:16 BST (UK) »
Florence Edith Adams was born in 1920 in the English county of Sussex, Thatcham area. In 1938 she gave birth to a son, * in Hastings, Sussex. He was adopted in 1940. In 1942 she married, in Hastings, John J McInnes, believed to be a Canadian soldier / airman. In 1942 their son ** was born, a daughter born the following year. It is believed that after the war they emigrated to Canada. They are not on any passenger lists I have found. Does anyone have any ideas? I am in contact with an English grand-daughter of Florence.

An online ancestry tree shows a Florence Pauline McInnes born 03 Jan 1920 Tunbridge Wells died 18 July 2009 Hamilton Ontario.  Married to John (Jack) Joseph who died in the 1980s.  Daughter Pauline Susan 1943-2010, Brenda 1947-2010, Virginia 1952-1986 which I assume is the Gini referred to in this obituary

Hello avm228, and thank you! I know Florence's Adams ancestors quite a way back, in Somerset. I am really only trying to discover information about Canada. I know the marriage records are sealed up for many years, but there may be electoral registers, street directories etc. Once we know what part of Canada they went to, it will be possible to trace them somehow.

From your last reply you don't think that Florence McInnes from reply #2 is yours?

Cosmac,  many thanks indeed. Someone from across the Atlantic had told me he thought Florence went to Hamilton, Ontario. Her first son and daughter were born in England, other children must have been born in Canada. I am very grateful to you. Florence's parents were John Adams and Georgina MacKinnon.
