Vanishing Illings.
« on: Sunday 23 September 18 10:16 BST (UK) »
George Richard Illing was born in Woodstock in 1854 and his birth was registered in the 4th quarter.

On 2nd August 1888 he married Beatrice Ellen Gough at Woodstock.

In the 4th quarter of 1889 their daughter, Gladys Beatrice Illing, was born in Woodstock.

On 31st May 1891  their daughter, Edith Mary Illing, was born in Walworth (baptised 9th October 1891 at Walworth St Peter and they were then living at 40 Fleming Road, Southwark).

In the 4th quarter of 1896 he died (aged 42) in the St. Olave registration district.

I cannot find Fleming Road in the 1891 census. Can anyone help me please.

P.S. I know they had left Woodstock by then.

In the 1891 census, 40 Fleming Rd is occupied by Albert Magson (38 b Bermondsey) and family, as well as Ann Copping (58 b Thornham, Suffolk) and family.  No Illing inhabitants, I am afraid.

Thank you. At least I have eliminated Fleming Road, but, alas, am no nearer to finding my Illings !

Edith’s birth certificate may be helpful for the family’s address at the time of her birth, which obviously is closer to the census date than that on the baptism record which you have.

Yes, and probably more cost effective, after the number of hours I have spent searching !

This doesn’t help sorry.
However, did George have brothers, Alfred and Henry? Transcribed on one site as ‘Kling’.

If so, they are living at 1, Frederick Rd in 1891 355/103.

@carol8353, thank you, yes. I have actually already ordered it. Much quicker than by post too !

@heywood, thank you and yes, that is them. But no sign of George, sadly.

They may have been in transit, not registered and had a temporary home, near relatives, when Edith was born.
