Quaker Family History Society Event - Ackworth School Autumn One Day Regional Meeting
On Saturday November 17th 2018
At the Music Centre, Ackworth School, Pontefract, West Yorkshire WF77LT
10:30 -17:00

Anyone interested can come (£10 charge to cover costs).
This event is proving popular. Let us know if you are coming please (book via email request to  info@qfhs.co.uk).

The day will include various talks (as below), tour of the school and an opportunity to view selected exhibits from the school archives.

Programme includes talks on :-
 Morning:-
  • 'A history of Ackworth School and the Flounders Institute' by Alexandra Collingwood - Head of History
  • 'John Hill - the First Superintendent of Ackworth School' by Philip Pawley a direct descendant
Lunch (not provided, please bring your own sandwiches. Tea/coffee available)
A tour of the school led by Heather Jones will follow lunch.

Afternoon talks are:-
  • 'Ackworth Archives' by Alexandra Collingwood
  • 'AOSA Calling' by Michael Hargreave
  • 'My Ackworth Ancestors and other related families' by Alison Tyas
There will be a final discussion with tea/coffee available before we depart

Ackworth School was immensely important to Quakers. The Governing Body is still accountable to Friends. It is located in the village of Ackworth, near Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
