May I please request that this photo be dated?  I am also wondering if there is any way to tell if it was taken in the United States.  I believe it to be a photo of my paternal grandfather or a sibling of his.  He was born in 1879.  Perhaps an estimate of this gentleman's age if that is not asking for too much.  I appreciate any help. Thank you so much.

It does have an American feel to it Joyce, he looks to be in his early thirties which would fit with an early 1900s date.
