Something odd here isn't there?  At the top of the page you have August 7th 1752 then underneath August 2nd 1752 and what I assume are marriage details of a James Philip of the parish etc.

Where do the original and transcript come from?

2 Marriages here. Top one James Philip and Jannet Robertson on August 2nd 1752. Bottom one Alexander Jones and Elspet Byers on September 30th 1752.
No marriage for 7th August 1752 as per the printed index, although the date at the top does say August 7th 1752.

its a Scots People download  and I wondered about the totally faded away words that are above the date of August 1752   

so illegible as to not being there almost..  I have tried to enhance with Photoshop  but no joy.

May will ask Scots People

Could the dates refer to the calling of  Banns. I see at the end of the first entry - 'married August 20 1752'

Also, the first  date refers to a previous entry.

I would interpret it as August 7th as the first calling of banns for James Philip and Janet. They were then married on the 20th.

I've found the original and the text that xin entered.  It's from Scotland's People.

If you enlarge the original and peer really carefully, you can just see the name Jean Mackie.
