Question re Whatsapp
« on: Thursday 27 September 18 12:17 BST (UK) »
I have Whatsapp on my iPhone but have hardly used it so I am hoping someone can answer a query for me.

I wanted to send a text to a friend but as I have previously sent her a picture and message on Whatsapp, that is what comes up.

Does anyone know a way around this?

That is your previous conversation....just type up your message and send it. It just gets added.

You should have a 'type message' bar below the previous message. Just type in that. Otherwise, you can use the standard messaging system using her contact details.

Thank you for the replies. Are you saying as WhatsApp and text messages use the same phone number, I can now only contact her on WhatsApp?

No

You have her number - so can send a text to that number completely separately from Whattsapp in the same was as you do to any other person.

If you go to your "Contacts list" and tap on the person's name, you should get the option to Ring or Text that person. I use Whatsapp when at home using my own Wifi but when I'm away from home I use text messaging...that was the advice given to me

They use same phone number....but how you choose to contact the person is up to you!

You can phone, send a text, or contact via Whatsapp

Many thanks for the replies.

I think the reason I was getting so confused was because the phone automatically created the title WhatSapp and my friend's mobile number in the contacts page.

I thought I had sent her a message on WhatSapp but I'd actually sent a text!

I thought there would be another field with the title Text.

As they say, you learn by your mistakes.

Since typing the above, hallmark"s post has arrived. Unfortunately I don't know many people on WhatSapp so probably won't ever really get to grips with it.
