Could someone please look in the Youngstown, Ohio, newspapers between February 1, 1890, and September 1892 for a mention of Henry "Harry" Billups of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania? Or of James or Amelia Acor, also of Pittsburgh? Or if searchable, the suspicious/violent death of an unidentified man in Youngstown in that time period?
Henry Billups was my great grandfather. He is last known to be alive in February 1890, when Mr Acor accused him of alienating the affections of Mrs Acor while all were in Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Dispatch of February 1, 1890, carried an article saying that Mr Acor had located Henry Billups in Youngstown and Henry denied knowing the whereabouts of Mrs Acor.
A note passed down in our family says that Henry died at age 46. He would have turned 47 in September 1892. All the other ages at death mentioned in that note have proven accurate.
I have seen the Pittsburgh Dispatch articles of January and February 1890 already.
I didn't find Henry Billups in
- The extant death records of Allegheny Co, Pa (Pittsburgh)
- The burial records of Homestead Cemetery, Pittsburgh (where his daughter is buried.
- The burial records of St John's Episcopal Church (his daughter's place of marriage)
He may be in the Youngstown death records, if there are any available. I didn't find them.
Amelia Aker is on the 1900 census of Pittsburgh, listed as a widow and living in the Pittsburgh and Allegheny Home for the Friendless. I think I found her husband James on that census also, but I don't have him in my notes.
