Alfred Howell Gibson died in Worthing in 1976. Date of birth 6 Sep 1904.
Seems to have married Lily Riddles in Worthing in 1938 (and see 1939 Register)
Might have been a second marriage!

I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean the parents of your Alfred Gibson were born in London ? I thought you didn't know where Alfred came from ? Your first post says you wonder if he was born in Scotland or Northern England. The parents of Alfred Howell Gibson are John William Gibson born in Bishop Auckland and Lavinia Howell born Normanton, both of whom were alive in 1939. Am I missing something ?

Hi Christine, sorry no you're not missing something, I made a mistake and was writing about his wife whom johnw65 found born Dec 1910. It's my age....
It all seems even more appealing now that he has found Jane's passing in 1933 Auckland; the main problem is his alleged father at his marriage?

Oh that's a relief . Thought I was being particularly dense  . The father's name could just be a mistake ,it's not unknown.

Yes that could be true, there is a tree on GR with Alfred Howell Gibson on it, I've written to the owner to see if the evidence is conclusive.
