Census records after 1911?
« on: Sunday 30 September 18 12:58 BST (UK) »
Where could I look to locate an ancestor's whereabouts in 1932, given that the last public census was in 1911?

What Continent?
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

You could try electoral registers.

Would the Census Office release the records of an individual if he was proved to be dead ?
I am trying to locate the whereabouts of Ramsay Marsh d. 1985. His father was living at Cippenham in 1943 but the whereabouts of Ramsay is unknown. He was at the RAF Recruitmenr Center Oxford in 1942. He had a house at Langley in 1953.
Kirtland (Oxfordshire Windsor, Berkshire)
Lipscombe (Longwick Berkshire, Maidenhead)
Marsh (London, Monksweirmouth, Durham+Berks  Bucks, Wokingham
Reynolds (Buckinghamshire Stoke on Trent)
Green, Stoke Poges

You can get the 1939 register opened if you can prove his death, but not a census record. If he was already in the RAF in 1939 though, he won't appear on the register.

The 1931 census was destroyed and no census was taken in 1941.  He is with his parents and brother in Slough in 1939.  His record is closed but the name ends in a Y.
