But I’m thinking going by the place John smith lived in the above record this may be the one I need

Just like it when I have wasted 7.50 on wrong searches haha

Thanks so much this opens up a whole new area for me as didn’t know much about this man

He is buried in Peterhead with his own family but it looks as if he had at least one son so could well be family out there somewhere

Was he seperated from his wife ?...the reason I ask there is a birth for a William Alexander Hardie 29 March 1908 Nether Kimnudy  Longside illegitimate mother Emmie Hardie domestic servant ?

As john was buried in Peterhead in 1941 and his wife Agnes was not mentioned in the cert

No mention of father on certificate I would say there is a good chance going by the sons birth date on the army record and no birth for a William Hardy Smith 1908 Longside this could maybe be the son

I tried looking for a birth for a William Hardy/Hardie 1908 Longside with Hardy being the middle name and this was the only birth for that year in Longside ...As we could not find him under the name Smith this one seemed a likely candidate ?
