Sydney George Waldron - arrives Quebec August 7 1914. Then what?
« on: Wednesday 03 October 18 15:39 BST (UK) »
The above sailed from Bristol, UK, on the Royal Edward. Arriving at Quebec on Aug 7 1914.
The purser's record indicates that he was going on to his "bro in law". None of his sisters survived beyond 1908, so it's probable that the brother in law came from his wife's family (Andrew). I don't know any names changed by marriage.
S G Waldron couldn't have remained in Canada for very long as he served throughout WW1, and his wife had a child in 1917, and one in 1920.
The only remaining descendant, a son - aged 98, remembers being told his father had lived in Canada when he was very young - 24.
I've not been able to find his return to the UK. Can anyone help with info about his departure from Canada/US? Or even where he might have lived?

 - a close look at his incoming passenger list shows he gives a destination of Montreal, so it would be worth checking Lovell's Montreal directories for him or any possible family names. It also says he was planning to work as a waiter, perhaps the relative owned a cafe or restaurant?

The directories:

Also, even if his sisters were deceased by this time, the contact could possibly be a brother in law, widower of one of his sisters, so I would look at all names connected with this family.

Thanks for your suggestion. Coincidentally, I've just found that his wife's sister, Emily, married Sydney George Spencer in 1907 in Newton Abbot, Devon. That man was then a passenger on the same ship, Royal Edward, as S G Waldron, bound for Quebec, on August 7 1914! He was said to be a returning Canadian. His wife was living in Torquay, Devon, with their three children in 1911. Where was he?

If I have it correct:
Sidney George SPENCER married Emily Jane ANDREW (Sep qtr 1907 Newton Abbott vol 5b p370)
Sydney George WALDRON married Lillian ANDREW (Sep qtr 1911 Newton Abbott vol 5b p228)
Both travelled to Canada (without wives/children) on the Royal Edward in 1914.

Do you know if or when Sidney SPENCER returned to England
Do you know when Sydney WALDRON joined the Army?
