Lewisham Boarding School circa 1893
« on: Thursday 04 October 18 10:18 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am researching two sisters whose father was a publican and their address was The Middleton Arms, 38 Norton Folgate, Spitalfields.
On 10 April 1893 they were both admitted to St Mary's Spital Square School and they were there until 21 Sep 1894.
In St Mary's school records their previous school was stated as Lewisham Brd School. Any information re this school would be much appreciated.
Thanks PWN

It will have been a board school, not a boarding school.

There were several board schools in Lewisham. I wonder if the abbreviation is for Lewisham Bridge School.

The Elementary Education Act 1870 (Forster Act)  required locally elected school boards to provide elementary schools known as Board Schools.
